Reconciler's Weekend Conference Sep. 24-25 at
Duke Divinity School
Reconcilers Weekend
is an annual event hosted by the Duke Center for Reconciliation, which brings a leading practitioner and a leading theologian, each dedicated to a life of Christian reconciliation, to share their stories and wisdom at Duke Divinity School. The program is designed to provide theological and ministry formation to students, pastors, lay Christians, and other ministry practitioners.

Mission to Malawi The CEF Durham chapter and CEF
of Malawi continued a partnership in 2010 through prayer, training, ministry
resources, and supplies. Joseph Khondowe and his staff (above) have reported
over 9,500 children receiving Christ in school-based clubs.

Education
Discipleship & Teacher Training
CEF of Durham offers educational opportunities for
workers involved in children's ministries and missions outreach. These
include courses from the Children's Ministries Institute®,
the CEF Urban Center of Light, and training tailored for mission teams and
churches. Classes are held at the Joe O'Daniel Exchange Center at 801 Gilbert St.
Durham unless noted.
Orientation, Basic, and Advanced
training for Good News
Club® workers in communities, schools,
and churches are offered each season and on request. Summer outreach,
urban ministries, and other specialized topics are offered

Intermediate Level courses are offered:
Teaching Children Effectively® Levels 1 & 2
These courses are designed to offer a fresh method approach to teaching
to children. Based on spiritual and educational principles, these
courses provide the procedures for leading children to Christ
and discipleship in the Word of God for biblical living.
The class (below) was completed Jan. 30, 2010 with five of these students
receiving their Level-1 teaching credentials.

2010 at Lake Waccamaw, N.C. This TCE course to be
held on Fridays 7:00 - 9:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Christian Youth in Action® (CYIA) 2011
TBA Basic training offered to teen and adult students involved
in local summer missions through Child Evangelism Fellowship of North Carolina
- Camp Good News in Asheville, N.C.
Urban
Missions training for reaching city kids Urban Missions Boot Camp is offered to those engaged in various urban ministries.
The 2011 training and mission outreach called BREAKOUT!
will be held for the fourth year in Durham with various sessions. Probable
dates are June 26-July 2 and July 10-16. Applications, information, and specific requests can be handled

The
Children's Ministries Institute®
provides specialized, practical training
in children's ministries not found in Bible colleges or Christian
universities. This is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship,
Inc. The institute is located at the CEF International Headquarters in
Warrenton, MO.
provides urban ministry resources and training
CEF Durham and its student ministers have accepted the challenge
of Dr. John Perkins to
embrace the biblical ideals of community development and the vision of Durham
becoming a City of Hope. You can obtain two of his classic books, Let
Justice Roll Down and With Justice for All at the CEF Urban Center
of Light. These and many other resources are available regarding the
principles of biblical reconciliation and Christian
Community Development at the center located at 600 E. Main St. in downtown
Durham. A full library of teaching ideas and resources for children's ministry
as well as access to all CEF Press literature are available.
