What is More
Than Gold?
Sports camps
were
established in 1996 by John Blake and Robert
Brickey to build solid athletic
skills and strong
Christian character.
Basketball was the first sport used for this purpose. After 15
years, soccer, baseball, wrestling, cheerleading, and multi-sports camps/clinics
have been held in numerous states, two foreign countries, and across North
Carolina. Tennis was added in early 2012. More Than Gold is also a gospel-centered resource for
Upward sports, Salvation Army,
YMCA, and other organizations conducting sports programs.
Gym courts, fields, and black tops
are common sites for MTG Sportsreach camps and clinics. Campers (7-15
years old) have attended half-day and full-day camps and clinics at
churches, schools, parks, and street corners for the past 14 years.
Cross training, Today's Heroes, contests, and team play highlight all
camps and clinics sponsored by CEF Ministries of North Carolina in
Durham. Local coaches, players, church leaders serve as staff.
