Camps for City Kids usually are held for 4 consecutive days during the summer months and school holiday sessions.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, some camps this year will meet virtually or in small groups. No matter how we meet with the kids, all of these camps emphasize putting God first in every aspect of play and life.  Building solid athletic skills and strong Christian character during drills and team play are expected of every camper. Basketball, Soccer, and Tennis are regularly offered, but other sports like Wrestling, Baseball, Football, and Black-top Games have been held in the past. Sports camps, clinics, and tennis academies are typically held in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Fitness and healthy lifestyles are emphasized during all sessions. Please sponsor-a-city kid to attend a camp during the late Summer and Fall seasons using button on this Stewardship page. See update and report on camps this summer on Camps for City Kids page.

Free Resources to Help Children during the COVID-19 pandemic

Current and past Good News Clubs can be viewed anytime at Good News TV on U-Nite, which is the CEF YouTube Channel

U-Nite is a CEF YouTube channel which shares God’s Word in a fun, engaging way to draw children to both understand and apply biblical truths to their lives. Songs, Bible lessons, and Scripture verses presented are great ways for children to memorize God’s Word as they sing of God’s promises and commands, the message of salvation, and other biblical truths. Each Bible lesson clearly teaches the Gospel since it is woven throughout the lesson.

Do You Wonder Why?

CEF has distributed millions of copies of Do You Wonder Why? a short booklet, but now a video as well designed to answer questions that are on everyone’s minds: Why do so many bad things happen in the world? Why did God allow this to happen? How can I get through this terrible time? Both booklet and video are perfect for children and families during this pandemic.

Our God-Given Mission

Child Evangelism Fellowship® (CEF®) of North Carolina in Durham has a simple, but profound threefold purpose: evangelism, discipleship, and connecting local churches to unchurched children and families across our area. For 26 years, Child Evangelism Fellowship has reached city kids in the surrounding Durham area. Through our Good News Clubs, sports camps, and collaborative events with dozens of ministry partners, we’ve been able to share the gospel with children of all ages. Thousands have accepted Christ as their Savior and many lives, families, and communities have been changed. Biblical discipleship is happening weekly in schools and neighborhoods.

Discover Our Story

During 2017-2018, CEF Durham conducted 122 weekly clubs, camps, and special events in the Durham – Orange – Alamance county area. 550 made decisions to follow Christ. Some adults/parents are in discipleship classes and others are surrendering their lives to Christ in local jails. 2019 reported over 10,000 youth and adults reached through various CEF ministries. We are seeking dedicated new volunteer staff and new camp sponsors as we expand the outreach to 10,250-15,000 city kids each year.

CEF Durham annually reaches children, youth and their families with Gospel centered activities within their neighborhoods and schools as well as at special community events. 2020-2021 will be capacity-building in these 3 areas:

1) 10% increase in Good News Clubs and sports-related outreach

2) 500 volunteers needed to double the impact of character education and sports-related ministries in the areas where CEF Durham serves by 2021

3) $100,000 additional funding to support the capacity-building of direct ministry efforts (100 donations of $1,000)
